Our Wicked (COOL) Bee’s Knee’s (AWESOME) Friend Wendy! She was hired as our receptionist, because what company doesn’t want someone with a British accent answering the phone for a wine importing company?! Her quick ‘British’ wit and my ‘Detroit’ wit made us immediate friends at work and beyond. I was so intrigued by her use of ‘proper’ language (haha) and we used to swap slang sayings and laugh so much. I used to tell her she really added class to my ‘international’ roster of friends, and she would laugh and say that was because she was the only international friend I had (haha). As our friendship grew we realized we shared so much more in common in our personal lives. We talked about not being able to have children and the deep love we have in our heart for our nieces and nephews that fulfilled our dream of parenthood. We shared many stories updating each other about our extended families and hoped they felt a deep bond with their favorite ‘aunt’. But, what we had most in common and shared many laughs about was how lucky we were to find the love of our lives, our husbands - my Norm (Russ), and in Wendy’s life her ‘King’ (Steve). We had the best King and Queen party when they left Michigan and we continued to keep in contact through emails, which I miss so much. We shared many talks about our health battles and we admired each other’s ability to ‘grab life by the arse’ and no matter what, to try to be brilliant everyday! Whenever I need an instant, calming, peaceful presence in this fast paced crazy world called our lives, I just close my eyes and think of Wendy....PRICELESS! From Michigan With Love.
