Roland Everington, July 2012

Wendy first came into my life when John and Judy kindly asked me to be a Godfather – a happy way to continue a friendship started at Marlborough, and who knows what might come from that bundle thrust into my inexperienced arms at her Christening? Before long I started to do a lot of business travelling to odd parts of the world always armed with an address list of important people such as Wendy, to whom I would send a short but illegible post card on the quality of the local hooch or whatever. It was not long before Wendy started to return the compliment which continued throughout her life wherever she and Steve might be in the world, and contributed to the making of a glorious friendship between Goddaughter and Godfather which was very special for us both throughout her life. The manner of her dying was no different to her life: overflowing with love, enthusiasm and kindness.
