From Kerry Spooner, July 2011

Dear Wendy, We first met and became friends in 1980, and I last saw you the day before you passed away. I miss you so much. I can’t pick one memory of the many happy times we spent together, there are too many: hockey, partying, holidays in Sardinia, Emma your goddaughter’s christening, you teaching me about photography, and latterly working with you to create your beautiful garden in Stratford. I always enjoyed your company and loved you dearly - you were fun to be with, loyal, upbeat and never had a bad word to say about anybody. Then came your cancer. One day while we were talking about it you came up with a quote I shall never forget, “Kerry,” you said “it’s simple, I can either spend the time I have left living, or dying, and I’m going to live.” And live you did, inspiring all those around you with your courage and determination. During our last meaningful conversation we agreed we would meet again in the most beautiful garden where we could ‘talk plants’ for hours. One day I shall see you there but be warned - learn all the correct Latin names of the plants as I will test you!! Rest in peace. Kerry xx
